    PDVS 2 Mini v1.6

    Version with ADR1399.

    Following numerous requests the PDVS 2 Mini is now also avialable with the ADR1399 as voltage reference. Circuitry around the reference is changed accordingly. Zener current increased to 3 mA and change of output compensation network to datasheet recommendation.

    Gold plated connectors as additional upgrade only available in the ADR1399 version.

    Precision Digital Voltage Source. The well known and proven PDVS 2 Mini with overhauled design and incremental improvements for v1.6:

    • Addition of 2% overrange on Output to 10.22222 V 
    • Integrated digital temperature sensor for internal temperature readout with 0.1°C resolution
    • Software updated to include 10.22222 V calibration point and temperature readout  via serial connection
    • Analogue circutiry, main components used and routing remains unchanged from previous versions made by Ian Johnston, all changes to the design made in coordination with Ian

    • All units are calibrated and adjusted with a Keithley 2002 8.5 digit multimeter, last calibration and adjustment done in  October 2024 against 24-hour specifications by xDevs.com. The calibration report is available via the resources tab

    Functions and Features: 

    • True 0 to 10 V DC user adjustable output in approx. 10 µV steps
    • Fully remote controllable via serial connection
    • Based on the updated ADR1399KHZ (0.5 ppm/K) precision shunt voltage reference
    • All digital calibration
    • 20bit DAC with an accuracy/stability down in the uV’s (using a PLC filter of 1.0 or higher)
    • Precision chopper op-amp on final output with extra stability achieved using low tempco resistors; output voltage is monitored constantly and includes short circuit protection
    • Recalibration and adjustment possible by the user
    • Charging PCB with socket for Li-ion batteries using a battery management IC, battery voltage monitor, including low voltage warning, autoshutdown, charging status and battery reverse polarity protection
    • 2.4” Graphics Monochrome LCD
    • Enclosure custom aluminum CNC machined and anodised

    Specification Summary

    • Voltage reference: LM399AH (0.5 - 1 ppm/K temperature coefficient)
    • 0.00000 V to 10.22222 V in 10 µV (0.00001 V) steps
    • Load = 10mA max; internally protected against indefinite short circuiting of output
    • Accuracy = Within 50uV. Typically 0.0005% at 10V output
    • Stability = 0.00005Vdc variation worst case. Orientation of the unit may effect output (calibrated horizontally), as will powering from external DC source
    • Temperature coefficient (whole unit) = Typically < 3 ppm across a 10K temperature change 
    • INL (Integral Non-Linearity) per DAC datasheet = Typical +/- 1bit, Max./Min. = +/- 64bit across 20bit range; considerably reduced by 12 setpoint calibration system used
    • Stabilization time: around 20 minutes depending on ambient temperature, coming off battery charge and last use
    • Power (batteries) = Two Lithium-Ion re-chargeable 9V PP3 batteries (Not supplied, 600mAh batteries recommended)
    • Charging (external power)  = 18 to 20V DC. For battery charging, 250mA max. charge current. Uses a 1.4mm barrel jack connector, supplied.
    • Battery consumption = ~100mA at power up, reducing to ~50mA when LM399AH heater has stabilized (a few minutes)
    • Battery quiescent current (unit switched off) ~4uA.
    • Battery = Approx. 12 hours typical continuous operation with recommended EBL 6F22 Li-ion 600mAh batteries . Any rechargeable Lithium-Ion 6F22 batteries will do, ranging from 500mAh to 1000mAh
    • Dimensions = 105 x 65x 52 mm
